The Lord and the Mermaid Released!

Today is release day for The Lord and the Mermaid! I’m so proud of this book which was previously published by Pan Macmillan. It’s a dark and sexy retelling of The Little Mermaid, originally published by Hans Christian Andersen. I know you’re going to love it!

Here’s the blurb:

…a desperate mermaid, determined to flee her people and create a new life. Merielle has rejected her family and gambled her future on inducing a human man to fall in love with her.

…an exiled sea captain, sworn to avenge a devastating loss. Nikolas blames the monstrous sea nymphs for his brother’s disappearance but when he finds an injured mermaid on his beach, he agrees to help her.

Despite his hate for the mer people, Nik is increasingly drawn to Meri, who slowly works her way into his damaged heart. Will Nik break the laws of land and sea to be with Meri, or will the devastating secret she holds crush their tumultuous relationship?

The Lord and the Mermaid is the fourth book in the epic Queenmakers Saga, combining the sweeping high fantasy world of Thorius with sizzling romance. If you like magic, political intrigue and mythical creatures, wrapped up in a dark and sexy retelling of The Little Mermaid, then you’ll adore The Lord and the Mermaid.

Cover Reveal-Princess in Exile!

Just look at the pretty new cover of Princess in Exile! I think it’s stupendous. This book will be available to pre-order soon and readers will be able to catch up on the trials and love story of Vard and Alecia- lately of Princess Avenger. This story is quite dark but still with an ending which will satisfy the romantics.

Here’s the blurb:

a princess of the people in self-imposed exile. Nothing could prepare Alecia for what she faces as she flees mercenaries sent by her father.

…a tormented shapeshifter, desperate to defend the woman he loves. Vard Anton fights both external forces and the least controllable of his forms – the bear.

The lovers travel to a lost city, hoping a sorcerer there may help Vard master his transformations. They soon discover this mentor has his own devious agenda. Will Vard and Alecia escape? Can their love survive Alecia’s fear of Vard’s animal forms? What secret does the princess hold with the power to destroy Vard’s trust?

The answers to all this and more are contained in the pages of Princess in Exile, the dark sequel to Princess Avenger.

Princess in Exile is the third book in the epic Queenmakers Saga, combining the sweeping high fantasy world of Thorius with sizzling romance. If you like magic, political intrigue and mythical creatures, wrapped up in a ‘beauty and the beast’ love story, then you’ll adore Princess in Exile.

I hope you enjoy it

Cover Reveal- Elf Princess Warrior

Elf Princess Warrior high res

Elf Princess Warrior- Wildecoast Saga Book II b

Caught up in a vicious civil war, elven princess Gwaethe Arenil is desperate to save her faction and reunite her people. Help presents itself in the form of Captain Jacques Vorasava, the dashing human Brightcastle commander. But does Jacques’s aid come with more dangers than Gwaethe can endure, both for her people and her heart? This story continues themes from The Elf King’s Lady.

When I wrote The Elf King’s Lady, I realised I would be returning to  give Gwaethe Arenil her happily ever after. Gwaethe is the half-sister of Elf King’s Lady hero Kain Jazara and there was much left in his story, let alone Gwaethe’s. The exotic elven princess is determined to save her people and bring Kain into his rightful place as leader of the elven race.

Gwaethe was a major secondary character in Elf King and this is where she met Jacques Vorasava, the human she finds difficult to resist. They fought on the same side, creating a bond of respect and loyalty that laid the foundations for deeper feelings. But as they are thrown together a second time, Gwaethe begins to realise the yawning chasm that separates them.

Elf Princess Warrior is a story of inter-racial love set amidst the greater conflict of war. I hope readers enjoy the story as Gwaethe and Jacques navigate the treacherous territory of lust, love, war and political intrigue. Elf Princess Warrior will be available at the end of the year.

Cover Reveal!

Sorceress front cover (1)

This might be my best cover yet! Not long now until The Master and the Sorceress is released. Here is the cover and below is the blurb.

The Master and the Sorceress

Desperate sorceress, Katrine Aranati, no longer knows how to deal with the woman she has become. She runs headlong into a man whose heart’s desire is order and control. James Tomel, master jeweler, is outwardly a pillar of society but he hides more than one dangerous secret.

When they are thrown together on a trip to Brightcastle, fierce creatures from legend pursue them but even more dangerous are the feelings swirling between them. When their hearts and bodies come together, one will flee while the other demands an accounting. Can they find common ground where their love will flourish or will secrets and betrayal kill all hope of a life together?

Find out if love and chaos can defeat order and control in the fourth exciting instalment of the Wildecoast Saga.

It’s been over a year since I released The Lady and the Pirate on Valentine’s Day 2017.  In that book, readers were intrigued by Katrine, the younger sister of the heroine, Esta. At times she threatened to take over the story. Well, now she has her own story and we get to find out what motivates her and the caliber of man who might be up to the task of being her hero.

I don’t have a release date yet but as soon as I do, it will be posted here and pre-orders will open. I hope you love the cover as much as I do!

Destiny 2018

cropped-bernadette-rowley-author-shot-resizeIt’s a month since I made my New Year’s resolutions and I thought we could compare notes on how we are going. I’ll refresh you:

I will write more / procrastinate less– just the fact that I have put this out there is keeping me honest with this resolution. It has helped that I’ve been editing which I find easy to do at all times of the day and night.

I will release two new books this year– the first of these, The Master and the Sorceress, is with my editor now and my designer is working on the cover for both print and ebook. This motivated me to write the back cover blurb this morning.

Start the next book– I will follow through on this once The Master and the Sorceress is released but I’m already tossing around ideas. If something enticing pops up, I can get started sooner! The muse is an amazing creature when you get her thinking.

Market my titles so I can earn enough to support my writing habit– I’m concentrating fiercely on this and tackling it from all directions. I’ve had some encouraging approaches from readers, I’m building a street team for my next release and planning the logistics of that launch

Mark out of 10? I would give myself a 7/10- I think I can improve over the next month in the procrastination department.

Exciting news! There is a better than even chance that this image will form the basis of the cover for The Master and the Sorceress. The model is just how I envisaged Katrine Aranati and the horse is perfect for Demon, too.

How would you rate your New Year resolution progress? It’s okay if you haven’t accomplished much- there’s still eleven months to go. Perhaps you need to sit down and map out how you will achieve your goals? Or maybe adjust them to make them more achievable. If you need extra help, tell someone about your goals so they can keep you accountable.

If you’re looking to pick up a free copy of my book Princess Avenger, I now have a page where you can do just that.

Release Day- The Lady and the Pirate

the-lady-and-the-pirate-webcover-finalIt’s finally here- the long awaited release of The Lady and the Pirate, book 3 of the Wildecoast Saga. Featuring pirate Samael Delacost and Lady Esta Aranati, otherwise known as Lady Moonlight. These two are made for each other but it takes a long time and some personal revelations before either of them will admit it.

Samael Delcost 1Samael roams the seas with his dark elven crew, pirating and making himself rich on the hard work of other folk. But there is a secret in his past which sends him on a collision course with Admiral Nikolas Cosara. We met Nikolas in The Lord and the Mermaid so it’s great to see him and his beautiful wife Merielle back in Wildecoast 3.

Estelle Aranati 1Lady Moonlight seeks to prop up her impoverished estate by smuggling in her spare time. Her ship is her connection to her dead father and her only means of escape from her obligations to her people. Combine that  with a younger sister who has magic in her armory and you have the recipe for some fireworks.

This is a rollicking yarn with two new characters in a familiar setting, Wildecoast and the country and oceans around the King’s seat. Look out for the next book in the series where we will get to know Esta’s sister Katrine a little better.

Happy reading.

The Lady and the Pirate- Pre-orders Open!

the-lady-and-the-pirate-webcover-finalWow, it’s been some ride over the last five years. I took a moment today to reflect on all the milestones I’ve ticked off with my writing over that period.

There was that exciting call, in March 2012, from Carol George of Penguin, with my first publishing offer for Princess Avenger. I made a trip to  the Romance Writers of Australia conference on the Gold Coast where the Destiny imprint authors shot a video, launched the imprint and had our author shots taken. It was a massive weekend and none of us could know how the next few years would unfold.

Princess Avenger Ebook coverThe next year Penguin released The Lady’s Choice, the second book in this fantasy romance series that I am absolutely hooked on writing. I decided I wanted to write a love story featuring a mermaid but when that was rejected I had a big decision to make. Find another publisher (if I could) or venture into the scary and unknown world of self-publishing.

At the time I just didn’t have enough confidence to step onto the self-publishing pathway and so I pitched The Lord and the Mermaid to Momentum (Pan Macmillan). Hayley Nash loved it and offered me a two book contract as long as we began Momentum’s own mini series. The Wildecoast Saga was born. The covers were amazing and I had The Lord and the Mermaid and The Elf King’s Lady both released in 2015.

The Lord and the Mermaid coverI began writing the book that I will release on the 14th of February- The Lady and the Pirate. I loved the freedom that came with having a pirate and a smuggler butt heads, not to mention the intrigue of a member of the aristocracy carrying on an illegal operation in a man’s world. Alas, hard times had fallen on the ebook publishing industry and Momentum didn’t want my story.

I had already begun self-publishing with the titles that were returned to me from Penguin, and added to my stable with Princess in Exile, the sequel to Princess Avenger, so I was keen to expand yet again.

36794-095On Valentine’s Day, February 14th 2017, I will publish The Lady and the Pirate on Smashwords and Amazon. It is now ready for pre-order at your favorite ebook retailer and will soon be available in print.

I hope you enjoy reading The Lady and the Pirate as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Cover Reveal- The Lady and the Pirate

I’m delighted to reveal to you today, my cover for The Lady and the Pirate, available on Valentine’s Day 2017. This book has been a labour of love during 2016 and I hope you enjoy it.

The Lady and the Pirate is the third book in The Wildecoast Saga, set in and around the King’s seat of Wildecoast in the kingdom of Thorius- my fantasy kingdom.

the-lady-and-the-pirate-webcover-final

Lady Esta Aranati, burdened by an impoverished estate, has turned her hand to smuggling.  She leads a double life, a mask and wig the only shields that protect her reputation. Swashbuckling pirate Samael Delacost wants her cargo and her heart. But before he can be worthy of her love, he must exorcize the ghosts of his past. An irresistible connection binds them but will that be enough to convince Samael to turn his back on the sea, or for Esta to take a chance on happiness she doesn’t think she deserves?

The Lady and the Pirate continues The Wildecoast Saga, with popular The Lord and the Mermaid characters Nikolas Cosara and his wife Merielle featured in this latest instalment from Bernadette Rowley.

The Lady and the Pirate will be available from Smashwords and your favourite ebook retailer. It’s now available for preorder!
