It’s a little early to be reviewing this current year but at Thanksgiving, thoughts turn to what we have to be thankful for. Now more than ever, we need to focus on being thankful in this uncertain world.

Australia doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but I love the theme of this holiday.

I entered this year full of anticipation of the release of the last three books in my Queenmakers Saga. I had planned to rapid release in the first half of the year. The People’s Princess released on February 18th, The King’s Blade on May 21st and Of Queens and Dragons on September 22nd – life clearly got in the way. But they are all out in the world creating enjoyment amongst fantasy romance readers. That’s something to be thankful for.

Also in the authorly space, I had my website upgraded by Duncan Carling-Rodgers, who is also my editor and formatter. I’m endlessly grateful for his input into my books. It makes things so much easier to have one person handling all that!

The three beautiful new covers on this year’s books were designed by Dar Albert whose talents never cease to amaze me. When out at author events, I get scores of comments praising my book covers.

Which brings me to those events. This year I’ve been able to chat to readers at The Bookstore at Caloundra, Cooroy Handmade and Maleny Handmade. I’ve noticed a recent trend toward ebooks and kindle unlimited from readers. Which is fine with me as all my books can be read FREE on kindle unlimited. Remember, I get paid for every page you read on Kindle Unlimited.

We moved house, hopefully for the last time in a long time. Same town, but from our rental into our very own new cabin on our farm. This enabled us to enjoy the peace of our acres, to grow crops to sell to our community and to have chickens! Last night, we hosted a street party at our front gate, and it was an enjoyable night. I’m grateful to live in such a supportive community which has embraced and welcomed us into their small country town.

Then there’s my family who give me endless joy. In April, we finally saw the wedding of my oldest son Tom and his love, Monique. It was an occasion of such joy and so much relief. Covid had forced a change of venue four months before the wedding, and we were all ecstatic these two could finally tie the knot. I was ridiculously happy to have another Mrs Rowley in the family.

There’s much to be pessimistic about in this world but also so much to be thankful for.

I leave you with an opportunity to snap up some book bargains in the Michelle Bailey Romance Fair – your chance to discover over 100 free and discounted books as well as win a prize. https://michelle-a-bailey.com/bookfair/

I hope you can find some gratitude in your life at this moment and that your Christmas preparations are joyful and carefree.
